Arsenal’s new signing Willian has pleaded with club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to remain at the Emirates and help the north London side to challenge for the Premier League title.
Aubameyang is in his final year at Arsenal and has become one of Arsenal’s most important player since moving to the Premier League club in 2018 from Borussia Dortmund. The Gunners are yet to tie their striker to a new contract and fear they may sell him this summer or risk losing him for free next year.
And Willian, who signed for the north London side this summer says Aubameyang will play a huge role in challenging for the title if he remains at the Emirates.
“I joined Arsenal because we can challenge for titles but Pierre will be a big part of the plan,” he told SunSport.
“He has to stay – it is very important to me. This is a guy who gets 25-30 goals a season and we have to keep a player like that. He’s one of the best players in our team and somebody I want to be making changes for.”
Since signing for Arsenal, the 31-year-old has 70 goals in 109 appearances for the Gunners.
