Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will miss his sides UCL quarter-final clash with Lyon on Saturday, as he continues to recover from knee surgery.
There was hope that their star Argentinian striker would be fit in time for the match after reports that he could even feature in the round of 16 against Real Madrid, but neither of these came to fruition, and he has been left out of the Cityzens matchday squad ahead of the clash.
According to The Sun football, there are no definitive plans yet for when Aguero will join his teammates in Lisbon, and this means that Gabriel Jesus will continue leading the line.
The 32-year-old hobbled out of City’s 5-0 win over Burnley back on June 22, and he has been doing his rehab in Spain after the operation was carried out by Pep Guardiola’s preferred surgeon, Dr. Ramon Cugat.
Meniscus injuries can be a problem, never mind just for the next few weeks but possibly longer. It’s the issue Mendy had – he’d recover, feel fine, then get swelling out of nowhere. There’s more friction in the knee after an op like that, which means problems keep cropping up https://t.co/ZhJ4MYAdHw
