Chelsea’s preparations for the new season have been hit after four players were forced to go into isolation in line with government regulations.
It is however not clear if any of the players tested positive for the coronavirus, following tests done immediately after the team returned to training last week.
“We have a number of players that are following government guidelines regards quarantine but we are not briefing or confirming names,” read a Chelsea statement on Wednesday.
Lampard’s men will be in action on Saturday in a pre-season friendly tie against Brighton at the Amex Stadium, a match that will host 2,500 fans.
The Premier League starts on September 12, less than six weeks since the last match of the previous campaign was played.
The return of the new season has been overshadowed by new positive cases, which have totaled to 14 in 12 Premier League clubs.
Among those that have recorded positive cases including Sheffield United, West Ham, and Brighton.
Meanwhile, the Blues open their campaign against Brighton on 14 September.
